We cannot stop the waves and winds on our oceans.
This washing machine effect grinds all those floating pieces of plastic. With every rub and hit minuscule particles are dislodged. The then loose particles eventually become like our processed flour.
The heavier then water plastic particles sink towards the bottom of the sea. Once there, the plant life is coated if there are no currents to brush it off. Others reach the root systems. Some reach their destinations while others are consumed on the way down by aquatic animals of all sizes.
The darker ground up plastic flour may be heated by the sun and just that extra bit of increase in temperature makes them fly with the wind.
There is recent proof that plastic is raining down upon us. That means everywhere on the planet.
We are breathing in that flour as well. Our foods and drinks may also harbour/contain micro plastics.
Maybe when those in charge of autopsies should check the linings of the lungs, throats, stomachs, and liver for signs of micro plastics. Another blood check test.
I call upon the world’s people to please pick up our/your garbage. All fishing vessels worldwide should attack the amount of plastic on our oceans.
All navies as well. We have to pick up all the pieces and bring them on to land and be processed. Cleaned, sorted, and recycled if possible. Tankers for supply and transportation of the garbage back to port.
All countries will have to help in this sortation as we all have a stake in it.
