The best way to deal with poverty or to raise the standard of living in a poor country is to slowly increase the incomes. First we must create work in order to help them.
Labor here is cheap in Haiti, and hiring 20 people to help build a big water reservoir or a build a few solid homes is easy. Someone here must keep tab and watch on all money.
Knowing the labour rates and laws helps as well.
Finding someone willing to work for one dollar (U.S.) per hour is easy. So-called skilled labour is a mix of great artists who care about what they do and those who have worked the trade a few times and then call themselves a “boss” (skilled certified labor). These demand more $ than the others.
They the Haitians are a very physically fit and strong people. Carrying fire-wood, doing the laundry, working the field, food preparation starts at the earliest of age. It is part of living and not considered work or child labour. Everybody contributes!
