Stored Potential Environmental Disaster Energy.
Look around, whether you are sitting, standing or moving. Look at all the plastics and other chemicals just at this very spot in this moment of time. The very computer or telephone or some other type of communication device that you are now using is just the tip of the iceberg.
I wrote an e-mail to Skechers (global shoe manufacturer) giving them shit for producing garbage footwear. Pairs of shoes that do not last and are not recyclable.
It started with those with the greatest need, an orphanage in Haiti buying boxes of so-called shoes that only lasted no more then 3 or 4 days on the children’s feet. They were but a formed piece of cheap rubber. With temperatures in the high 90s they just tore apart at the first encounter of stress.
In that Country there are three ways of dealing with their garbage. They leave it rot, in or on, the land, burn it, or let the rains and rivers carry it out to sea. In our so-called developed world most of it is buried in landfills which is no better.
I finished my e-mail with something like this; “If you were a Responsible Eco-Friendly Company you would stop letting your name to be associated with what I had earlier written or called “Industrial Dumping”.
New definition of Industrial Dumping; Producing products with a very low lifespan with little chance of an afterlife in order to make a quick buck!
Look around! Our electronics, household appliances, furniture, automobiles and the like all seem to fit into that category. It is cheaper to buy new then to fix! A spoiled throw away polluting modern day society. This is not civilized!
We are still as animal as ever, just more ignorantly dangerous.
I was surprised not to see Haiti in the list of the top 20 countries that pollute the oceans the most yet our developed countries buried treasures are by far more serious.
The world needs some serious changes as we are on a suicidal course with everyone pointing their fingers at someone else.
People have to wear shoes and wear clothe! Time to make them out of natural products only so that nature can reclaim them without negative harmful effects. Same goes with our medicines, forms of transportation, furniture…
The whole Petrol-Chemical Industry is dirty and we keep on seducing the next generations to rely on it.
About 15 years ago I made a list of all the SPEDEs in our home rubbers. plastics, chemicals and so forth. Now I find myself again surrounded by just as much. The everyday things I use and not. The fumes that would come out of burning just my one bedroom apartment and its contents would probably be enough to kill 3,000 people or more. The amount of garbage (re-cycled and not) I alone produce is also staggering.
Ashamed to be Human.
