Olivia Chow is now running for Mayor of the City of Toronto (2014) after quitting her elected Federal National Democratic Party (NDP) post as member of parliament.
The cities are under the rules and/or controls of the Provincial and Federal Governments and the changes that she sees as in need can better be attacked, changed or done, where she was, not where she aspires to be.
Her withdrawal from the NDP will hurt the party hard as it was her late husband who was the force and inspiration for needed change.
Of course this is all personal opinion, but then again we will see the NDP lose the majority of the seats it now holds in the next Fed. election. unless of course they find another leader who stand out above the now so-called leader.
The problem with the politicians these days is that they only see, think and understand their immediate surroundings only (Country) and with no long term/range planning. This in turn hurts people and all of environments we exist in.
We, most people on our planet have been taught to think and see local and within our life time/frame only.
Politics is about changing what one sees and/or understands (with proof) as wrong. Yet when one, or those that questions the “Free Market” and our system here “Capitalism” as within that category or “wrongs” we are ignored by the mainstream medias.
Transit problem = phase out the personal automobile! re-distribution of work locations/areas and times/hours.
Distribution of wealth = wage limit, raise minimum wage, set a maximum wealth for all individuals world wide. This would also stop many from wasting and abusing resources (polluting needlessly selfishly) as they are now doing at their leisure.
Distribution of power = equal exposure for all candidates running for in all elections, open books on all accounts/ownership. Wealth creates power, eliminate wealth and so does the unfair decisions made by too few for their benefit as their primary motivation.
Housing = limit property ownership to one main residence and one vacation property only.
Pollution = phase out as many chemicals as possible, allow only environmentally safe products on the market. Reduce the throw away society, increase fixable and long lasting products, e.i. stop the flow of junk products (furniture, clothe, shoes, electronics…)
Population density = start planning now on a Global scale with other Governments WW future city locations, size, and population numbers.
Job creation = food production is always in need, reduce machines increase employment.
These needed changes can only be addressed or attacked at the federal level. Olivia, bad move!
